• On June 15, 40 Glocc was shot twice while attending a funeral in San Bernardino, California.^[23]
• On June 20, Prodigy died in Las Vegas, Nevada with no official cause of death known. Initially, it was presumed his death was from sickle-cell anemia; which he had suffered from his entire life. However, it was revealed in August that he died choking on an egg at a hospital in Las Vegas.^[24]

• On September 3, Lil Wayne was hospitalized in Chicago for suffering multiple seizures.^[29]
• On September 27, Young Dolph was ambushed during a gunfight in Hollywood. He was rushed to the hospital after gunshot wounds were discovered.^[30]
• On the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated October 7, 2017, Cardi B claimed the top spot with 'Bodak Yellow', becoming the first solo female rapper to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1998.^[31]
