  • im using Sun Broadband service. Quite good in Ortigas CBD and at home - Sampaloc Manila. They offer unlimited broadband for only P799. You can even have the unlimited service without being tied for 2 years. Just pay for the modem fee of P1895.00.

Hm.. I just subscribed 3 days ago and got activated 2 days ago. And guess what I get 0.00kb/s speed and I can't even open google. I called customer service a few times and they just told me that there's no problem in my area (I'm also in Sampaloc Manila). They told me that there might be something wrong with the building or something and I should try using it outside. I tried it near the window, but still to no avail. I tried it on my laptop in the victory liner terminal, but guess what it did, it 'hanged' my laptop thrice and almost broke the battery. I checked, the laptop runs faster if it's not connected. So, if speed and quality doesn't improve, I might disconnect and throw away 2694 + 500 pesos away and just go to smart bro. I may that this is a big waste of money, not to mention that it comes from a relatively famous company.
  • my upload speed's higher (at 300-400kbps) than my download speed (0-200kbps). why is dat? can someone tell me? ^_^
  • bumagal na ang sun at nag cap sila ng speed at 640kbps since July 27, 2009. Nag email na nga ako sakanila about this matter. Maybe you guys are interested. Sent ko sakanila to Aug. 14

    To Sun Broadband Wireless,
I have noticed, since July 24, 2009 that my broadband speed has greatly decreased. I have subscribed to your service since May 2009 and the speed that I was getting was always around 1.5mbps above even during peak hours. Came July 27, 2009 my speeds were no longer going above 900kbps be it Peak Hours or Off peak hours (1am-7am). I've been monitoring my connection speed since I subscribed to your service. My speed tests in June were at 2mbps and I was a very satisfied customer.

Again the speed was above 1.5mps until July 26, 2009.

Based on the speed tests results, my bandwidth or speed was no longer going above 900kbps.

As you a can see, the green line indicator on the statistics page show that my speed was between 1mbps - 2mbps. Download rate was between 100kbps-150kbps or more.

As you can see, my connection is limited to 700kbps-800kbps. And it has been this way since Last month July 26, 2009. I have called your customer service line multiple times already and they are really not helpful. They keep on saying that they will send a report to the technical support team but no action has been taken. They say that you have this system adjustment that is going on to improve the service but it has been more than 2 weeks now and I have seen no improvement at all. I reasearch online if I was the only one experiencing the problem but to my surprise there are a lot of other SBW subsribers experiencing the problem and have noticed that there speeds had dropped. I read through some forums that they have used a Mobile Data Monitoring Application where-in you can see the assigned speed for your wireless service. I have downloaded and checked what profile speeds I was assigned to and I saw that it was only at 640kbps for both upload and download. I know that this software is 3rd party but I am starting to believe based on my other tests that My speed has been capped and that is the reason why I am having this issue.
There is an ongoing discussion regarding this matter at this website:
    http://www.tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=148559&page=230
This would be proof that there are also other subscribers that are experiencing this issue.
Please work on this matter on bringing my profile speed back go 2mbps, because if you do not bring my speeds back, I will cancel my service and move on to a different provider.

hanggang ngayon, di na umangat ang speed ko. lagi na lang below 900kbps..
  • yeah i noticed that too. but it's not like i'm expecting anything big especially during peak hours. but i still hit a max burst speed of around 180KBps during off peak hours.
it's the average speed that seemed kinda slowed for me. like a month ago i was hitting averages of 120KBps and now i hit around 90-100KBps. :(
  • hm. @kuya above me, don't you mean kbps?
neway the funniest thing happened to me a few hours ago. I actually got a connection speed higher than 10kbps! It was around 200-700kbps according to the UI, but after 30 minutes it went back to it's annoyingly low speeds. Any thoughts if I should discontinue already?

all the time ba slow? or afternoon lang ? Mine starts to crawl at about 8pm to 1am give or take a an hour.
  • i tried speedtest earlier:
yeah i definately think that there's this programed timeframen where your speed gets limited. just this monday, yesterday and earlier, around 8am-12nn, the max burst speed that i get is just about 35KBps.
  • uhm. parang bumilis speed ko. i actually got a peak of 1Mb in my room (something that had not happened for a month.) pero at peak hours hirap pa rin ako makakuha ng decent speed even at the spot where there's a good signal.
di parin stable pero mas ok na to compared sa speed ko a month ago.

  • Please help. My Sun broadband wireless device is always disconnecting after a few seconds/min from connection. Signal is ok (5 bars WCDMA). I unstalled and re-installed the devicel to no avail. Ive tried using it to other computers and it was ok with no disconnection problem. My USB port seems ok, since portable hard disk/flash drive usage is ok. Ive been using for 2 weeks with no problem but for the past 3 days such problem keeps on occuring.

hi i'm also experiencing that ever since. but it only happens with my pc which is using vista x64. i tried it with my laptop using vista x86, another laptop and pc both using xp x86 but doesn't seem to have a problem.
i did have some remedies of my own. i would uninstall and delete all the registries then install. then before dialing, i go to control panel, network and sharing center, manage network connection, right clock at sun then properties, go to networking and check all the options there. then i dial. at least it's working with my firmware and dashboard. i won't have any disconnections till i restart or turn off my pc. hope that helps
  • i am using the SWB hsdpa internet, and paying 799 a months for a post paid plan, they promised me an UP to 2Mbps download speed, but im not getting it, most of the time im only getting 13kbps and a burst of 400kbps (very rare usually form 7 pm to 9pm only) what should i do? can i consider this a scam? are they supposed to have a QoS guidelines like an acceptable speed range?
